Thursday, June 5, 2008 - Is that OXYGEN?!?!?!?

I have become a very boring blogger, haven't I?  All I do is bitch and moan about how stressed, swamped and miserable I am.  In fact, last night when I came home after the library closed, with an incomplete essay on....get this.....MARGARET ATWOOD.....that was due at 9:30 this morning.....but I digress......and got slapped with the grim awareness that the neat little comfortable life that I had was frayed in places and shredded in others. I indulged in an hour of self-pity, complete with sobbing and snotty tears.

And now that's over and it's time to chin up and get on with it. Cuz you know what?  It ain't that bad.  I wrote a mid-term exam on Tuesday.  I feel like I did really well on it.  There are some fantastic resources, and one pretty darn terrific librarian at one of the university's libraries who saved my butt with research advice. The school is really quite a beautiful place too.  I keep reminding myself that I need to take my camera some day. Oh.....and my essay? My essay was printed by 10 minutes to 8 this morning, giving me just enough time to throw on my clothes and head out the door. Yes, I'm (a bit) behind.  And I miss Lucy and the free time to do as I please.  But I have the next three days to get caught up, and get revved up for Monday morning, and maybe I'll even do a little sewing this weekend.

We all miss you. It's kinda like "Diet Nancy" OR "Light Nancy" .... it's just taking some getting used to not having your witty words every day :D

Nancy, hang in there! You've made a huge adjustment, going back to university after a few years out. It gets better as you go along--not easier or a lighter work load, but somehow better. When I went back to school I had about 50 houseplants all in wonderful condition. When I completed, 1 1/2 years later, I had one plant left, and it needed help! You have to set priorities, and plant care went to the back burner in my case. Needless to say, I wasn't quilting at that time. If I had been, I'm sure I never would have graduated! LOL So just hang in there and know we all miss your entries but you have a great goal that you have to focus on and we'll be satisfied with the occasional blog from you. Barb

Going back to University is HUGE. Give yourself a big pat on the back. BTW I have another suggestion for that iPod. www.librivox.org has a gazillion (at least) public domain novels that volunteers read. All are books published before 1929, which is when some of the very best rue literature was written.I download them all the time and prefer listening to them rather than the radio when I quilt these days. I'm working my way through Jane Austen's works right now.

Librivox is great and you may find some of your required reading on there like Margaret Atwood, who I LOVE. You are doing a great job, keep at it!
