Wow, it's been awhile!
Hello Quilters!
Wow. I can't believe it's been so long since I've posted. I'm so lazy. Actually, I've been really busy. My 20 year-old sister moved in with us....temporarily, she just needs to save some money to get her own place, her fiancé and her have split, so she needs to recoop. She's doing really good though, break-ups are hard.
As for Quilting....well I have done a couple. Our building has been going through renovations since July and I've had to have my Quilting Area covered, so as not to have everything covered in evil dust! Our building's owner has given this historic building a wonderful facelift and some much needed advancements. We now have new vinyl double-paned uv-protecting keep the noise out windows, new top of the line thermostat gas heating and the building has had a fresh coat of era appropriate paint....there's other enhancements at work too, but the rest doesn't involve our apartment...hooray! The building we live in was built in 1840-something, it's beautiful and has this wonderful charm, comparable only to buildings in cities such as New York. We like it here and we like it even more now that we some newer ammenities.
I made a quick baby quilt using an already quilted panel, I just binded it with some wide satin ribbon and I also completed the wedding log-cabin I was working on...or actually procrastinating over, here are some pics:
I am now working on another "Trip Around the World" quilt, this time in very beachy colors for my Aunt Becky who is currently battling Breast Cancer, she has lost her left breast and is undergoing Chemo and Radiation. Needless to say she is having a rough time and my mom and I think this Quilt will help cheer her up a bit....so I better get going. Oh, and as a side note...the Susan G. Komen Foundation is amazing!! Support them if you can. They have and are paying for all of my Aunt's medical as well as for a wig and reconstructive surgery if and when she gets the all-clear...what an amazing and wonderful organiztion to support, they have done so much, that I didn't even know they did until my Aunt's situation.
Okay, on with the quilting...it feels good to be back!

We're back...
|
Hello Quilters!
We are back from vacation and we had a blast! Too bad vacations don't last very long, they always seem to fly by! I hate being back at work, but what are ya gonna do? I did accomplish some quilting while on vacation....I actually finished the baby quilt! Well, I still have to stitch on the label, but our printer is out of ink and we have a Dell so we had to order the ink, I'm hoping it'll be here tomorrow.
While on vacation I did pick up Eleanor Burns' Egg Money Quilts Book and DVD. After seeing Vera's Double Wedding Ring Blocks, I just have to try it. My little sister (the middle child, I'm the oldest) just told me that she's getting married on the 28th. She lives in Louisiana with her 6-year old daughter, I miss them. Anyway, I've decided to give the DWR a try by making them the DWR Table Runner. And maybe, if it goes well, I'll make a lap DWR quilt for our friends that are getting married in August. I already told my husband that I will be very busy, lol

Vacation
|
Hello Quilters!
Well my hubby and I are on our first day of vacation and besides doing all the laundry and packing for our trip tomorrow, I've actually manged to get in some good quilting time. I finally got the ruffle, batting and backing sewn to the baby quilt top and it looks really cute! I'm tying this one, but the next one (a wedding quilt for our friends) I am going to machine quilt...I've been practicing...so anyway here's some pics of the baby quilt, all I have left to do is the tying and sewing on the label!

I hope everyone is having a good weekend...off to Disneyland we go! Have fun quilting while I'm away!

Not alot of progress
|
Hello Quilters!
Well, I haven't made anymore progress on the baby quilt, I have had the dreaded flu! It's been awful, all this time home from work and I have not the energy to do anything. A waste of staying home if you ask me, but I'm finally feeling better. So I plan on quilitng like mad this weekend....which I'm so looking forward to.
We're going on vacation in eight days!!!! I can hardly wait! We are going to Disneyland for a few days and then the rest will be spent at home, relaxing! I am definately getting in some quality quilting time then!
Well that's all for now :)

Wow! I haven't posted in awhile....
|
Hello Quilters :)
I have been so lazy the last few months! I've barely gotten any quilting done. I miss it so. But, I have finally started a new project for my friend's new baby. It's just a simple four-patch quilt, here's a preview I made of it from EQ5:

So wish me luck...I'm on a quilting streak again and I hope to keep it up...if only work and everyday life wouldn't interfere...lol :) Oh, and I've updated my webpage, check it out: Quilty Thoughts.

Christmas Was Great!
|
Hello Quilters :)
Well we had a very lovely Christmas. My hubby gave me so many quilting things!!! I got EQ5, HP Custom Quilt Label Software and the stuff to build my very own Quilting Design Wall....well my husband is gonna build it, but he bought all the supplies, it was so funny getting wood for Christmas with a big bow on it, but he said, "I couldn't build it without you knowing, plus he knows I have specifications"...LOL!
I did finish my Niece's Quilt and it arrived just in time, in the mail on Christmas Eve...boy, did I cut it close!!! My sister says she loved it and will send pics of her opening it with her reactions, I'll post some when I get them. Here's a pic of the finished product:

Well, I hope everyone had a really great Holiday...Happy New Year!!!

I Will Finish Before Christmas!
|
Hey Quilters :)
Well, today I am determined to make some headway on the quilt I'm making for my six-year old niece for Christmas. It's the same Trip Around the World pattern that I did in my first quilting class, only in shades of pink (her favorite color) and twin size for her bed. I'm a little in panic mode since Christmas is three weeks away....but I did make the other quilt in one day...I'm allowing myself one week for this one. I was gonna machine quilt it, but I'm just not confident enough to do that on her quilt maybe on the scrappy nine-patch I'm half-way done with for my hubby (I've put his aside for now...he doesn't need it for Christmas, lol) I'm gonna tie hers like I did my first quilt, and since my hubby has like five commissions to get done by Christmas Eve (my hubby is an artist, check out his work @ www.imageArtworks.com)...he won't be bugging me all day and I should be able to get alot done. Well, anyway...I'm off to an entire day of quilting...YIPPEE!!!! I love my new hobby!
Oh, and here's a pic of my niece...isn't she the cutest!!! (she's won two beauty pageants!) Her and my little sister live in Louisiana, so I hardly ever get to see her, so I always like to do special things for her, so she knows who Aunty Mandy is . I'm hoping someday she'll take this quilt with her to college...that would be nice....

My First Quilt
|
Here's a picture of my very first quilt. I made this at a "Quilt in a Day" Class given by a friend of a friend. I had so much fun that day. This quilt is kept on our loveseat and everyone that comes over loves to curl up in it on movie night I am making another "Trip Around the World" Quilt in shades of pink for my six year old neice for Christmas, except I'm making it a twin size quilt instead of a lap size...I hope I finish it in time .

Hello
|
Hey Quilters :)
Well it's a lovely rainy day here, a perfect day for quilting. I have so many projects to complete before Christmas! I just hope I get them done in time.
My hubby just made me a wonderful cutting table, he bought one of those Cosco tables...plastic with matal legs, folds up for storage and took my large cutting mat and screwed it to the top, he was going to glue it, but I told him that cutting mats will wear out (not that I've weared one out yet, but my teacher in a class I took told us they do) So he screwed in in place so it can be removed. It's amazing how just having a larger space for rotary cutting can make such a difference in my desire to quilt...less frustration I guess .
