Tuesday, May 23, 2006 - Hand Dyed Fun...

My Mother's Day this year started with a wonderful drive to a beautiful Herb Farm/Garden called The Thyme Garden.. in the coastal range mountains on the way to the Oregon Coast, in a little town of Alsea.  They were hosting their annual Mother's Day Celebration and Art Festival.  On the way there we just happened to locate an outdoor quilt show at a fuschia garden/farm.  After taking in the quilts.. many were from my local guild members and some where yet to be sent off to Katrina Relief.. we met Debbie Richman (also from my guild).. a truly wonderful artist and craftsperson.  She had a host of handmade soaps we couldn't pass up.. and then I learned that she also hand dyed fabrics... her real passion.  I couldn't resist treating myself.. an opportunity to start my Ricky Tims -like.. convergence quilt.  I came right home and cut my strips and spent monday putting it together.  I am still in the process as you can see...
I chose to put my strips back together slightly different than his instructions, because I liked the tiny boder it was creating.  Anyway.. am having fun with it, and plan to use it along with the kaleidoscope in my July presentaion at the guild.

I love the colors you pick for all your quilts, I have found that this is the hardest part for me, trying to decide what colors and matching up, but iv noticed on your quilts the colors are beautiful and blend so nicely,,,,this one will be stunning when its done
