Tuesday, September 18, 2007 - Pansies in the Window

This is my Pansies in the Window quilt.  I started working on it in February 2006.  I finished it just this month, September 2007.  It is hand appliqued, hand pieced, and hand quilted.  It will go in our local Quilter's Guild quilt show in October.  It is a viewer's choice show, but there are 30 ribbons available so please wish me luck.  Carolyn

    Tuesday, September 5, 2006 - Small Stuff

This is a duffle bag I made for our swimming gear.  By the time I got it finished, it was too cold to go swimming.  Now I use it for all kinds of things.  I don't know how I got along without it.

This is my everyday purse.  I have the fabric to make one for fall, but haven't started it yet.

Wednesday, May 17, 2006 - Sewing Supply Carry Along

I made this for my sister-in-law in exchange for yet another chance to rummage through her scraps. I think she would have let me into her scraps anyway, but it was nice to do something for her for a change.

I made this wallet to go with my purse.  It is pretty basic, but exactly what I wanted.

    Wednesday, May 10, 2006 - Purse

This is the neatest little purse.  I just love the pockets.  They hold cell phone, keys, etc.

I just love this tote bag.  It goes everywhere I go.  The pockets hold everything I need for handwork.

Monday, March 20, 2006 - Sunny Days layout

Here is layout attemp #1 for the Sunny Days quilt.  I am definitely open to suggestions for a better arrangement if you have any ideas.  We have our next, and final class on this project on March 28.  Believe it or not, I am pretty much ready.  I just have to finish and label the layout and gather my supplies together.

    Sunday, March 19, 2006 - Hand Quilting

I have a new-found respect for hand quilters.

Last Tuesday night I took a class on hand quilting.  I learned a lot.  I also had a wonderful time.  Great teacher, great friends, great topic.  We had a supply list to bring with us, and the instructors made up an 18" square of musling, batting and backing for us.  The pattern was also traced onto the muslin.  Now all we had to do was hand quilt it.

Bev, the teacher, said to bring our results home like a Kindergartener and show it off proudly.  I did this.  I came home and said to Hubby something about now I could do it just like the Amish.  STOP!!  Who am I kidding.  My stitches are huge, uneven and often not even straight.  Bev says the solution to this is "practice, practice, practice."  I will need plenty of that.

Since the class, I have almost finished the hand quilting on the block.  Even though it leaves much to be desired, I am very proud of it and will finish the quilting today or tomorrow.  It will someday be a pillow.  I will make the pillow sometime soon and I will post it.  I will not be posting any close-ups, I do have some dignity left.

I will try not to let this much time elapse before posting again.  It was my intention to post a little something every day to truly make this a quilting journal.  As you can see, this has not happened.  I'm reasonably certain that it never will.

    Wednesday, January 11, 2006 - Close up

This is a close-up of the applique.  This was unfinished at the time.  It since has buttonhole stitch around the insides of the flower and the leaves.

    Wednesday, January 11, 2006 - Yellow Quilt

This is a quilt I am making for a class through the local Quilter's Guild.  The flowers are applique.  There will be a 9 patch between each applique.  All colors are random.  The pattern is 'Sunny Days' from Curl-Up Quilts by Becky Goldsmith and Linda Jenkins.

Friday, January 6, 2006 - Warm Wishes Quilt Top

This is my second flannel quilt.  For anyone who might not have seen it, there is a picture of the first one down farther on this page.  I love this pattern.  It was very easy to do and I really like the look.  I am waiting for Hubby to make me a quilt frame so that I can finish it.  I am hoping he can somehow get to it this weekend.   I will update you further and post a picture of the finished quilt.

    Tuesday, November 22, 2005 - 3 weeks old

We are now three weeks old and really getting around our box.  It won't be long before we make it out of here and run around the house.  Carolyn can't wait.
